Dr. Jim McCoig was born and raised in Virginia. He attended the University of Richmond where he played football and then attended the University of Virginia completing medical school, internship, and residency. He moved his family to the Alleghany Highlands in 1993 and now resides in Falling Springs with his wife Mary and their four children.![]()
He has practiced with Shenandoah Orthopaedics from 1991-1993 and with Jackson River Orthopaedics from 1993, which then merged with WVVA Healthcare Alliance in 1997. He recently separated from that arrangement to open his own orthpaedic practice at Alleghany Highlands Medical Center.
Dr. McCoig is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and although he has a special interest in Sports Medicine, treats all general orthopaedic problems including fractures, joint replacements, hand and foot surgeries, arthroscopic surgery, and work related injuries.
He and his staff look forward to serving the Alleghany Highlands!
